The most important quality I can promise you, if you decide to go into psychiatric treatment with me, is I will treat you with directness, kindness and respect.
In order to make progress in psychiatric treatment, you have to be able to trust that your psychiatrist will be open and direct. If you can’t trust that relationship, look around for some one else you can trust.
I have been practicing and teaching as an Assistant Professor in general psychiatry since 1978. I trained first in family medicine at the University of Miami and did my residency in Psychiatry at the University of Washington, Seattle. I have been honored by the American Psychiatric Association as a Board Certified Psychiatrist since 1977.
It is important for you to know I have been quadriplegic for the past 43 years. I work in an office in my home, and I believe my handicap increases my ability to understand my patients better. I prescribe psychiatric medications when I think it is appropriate. Frequently, psychiatric medications enable the patient to have the energy and focus to complete the treatment
